1 tsp grated ginger

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp red chili powder (optional)

1 tsp amchur (dry mango powder)

1 tbsp jaggery (grated or powdered)

Salt to taste

1 cup water




Khatta Meetha Lauki- How to prepare it (Step-by-step):


1. Ready the Lauki:

Cut, deseed and dice the bottle gourd into small cubes. Set aside.


2. Spice Up Temper:

In a kadhai heat mustard oil. Add mustard seeds, fenugreek, dry red chillies and hing. Let them boil.


3. Ginger: Saute Ginger:

Add ginger and stir it some few seconds.


4. Add Spices:

Place turmeric and red chili powder. Mix fast not to burn.


5. Throw in the Lauki:

Add cube bottle gourd. Amalgamate with the spices.


6. Simmer:

Put in salt and water. Cover and cook 10-12 minutes or till lauki is soft.


7. Check the Flavors:

After it has become soft, add amchur and jaggery. Let Cook another 23 min until the gravy is thickened.


8. Garnish (Optional):

Garnish with fresh leaves of coriander.
